Crack the Code (themayacode.com) is run by Houtzager Holdings ("we", "us"). This policy explains what we collect, why, who we share it with, and the choices you have. We collect only what we need to give you your readings and run the service, and we never sell your personal information.
What we collect
- Your birth details. To work out your readings we ask for your full birth name, the name you go by, your date of birth, and optionally your time and place of birth. If you aren't signed in, these stay in your own browser. If you sign in, we save them to your account so your readings follow you between devices.
- Your Google account basics. When you sign in with Google we receive your name, email address and profile picture, and nothing else. We don't get your password and we can't see your Gmail, Drive, contacts or calendar.
- Other people's birth details you enter. For compatibility readings you can enter a partner's birth details. These stay in your browser and are not sent to our servers for storage. Please only enter someone's details if you have a good reason to believe they'd be comfortable with it.
- Conversations with the Companion and the avatar. When you talk to the voice Companion or the talking avatar, your voice is sent to our voice and avatar providers so they can turn speech into text and reply. We pass along the parts of your profile and today's reading that the Companion needs. We record how long each conversation lasts so we can count your minutes; we don't keep recordings of your voice.
- Bookings with practitioners. If you book a session, we store the booking, the question you send the practitioner, messages about the booking, and any review you leave. The practitioner you book sees your name, your question and the booking details.
- Payments. Payments are handled by Stripe. We see what you bought and whether it went through, but we never see or store your full card number.
- Practitioners. If you apply as a practitioner, we store your application, public profile (name, photo, bio, specialties, availability) and payout setup through Stripe. You can also add your own birth details so we can match you with clients. These are used only to work out a match score: clients see the score and the reasons, never your birth date, time or place.
- Basic technical information. Like most websites, our hosting provider logs things like IP address, browser type and pages requested, to keep the site running and secure.
How we use it
- To calculate and show your readings, Living Book, daily code, charts and forecasts.
- To let the Companion and avatar talk with you about your own readings.
- To suggest practitioners whose charts align with yours, and to run bookings, payments and payouts.
- To send you messages you've asked for or that relate to your account and bookings.
- To keep the service safe, prevent abuse, and fix problems.
We do not use your information for advertising, and we do not sell or rent it to anyone.
Cookies and browser storage
We use one sign-in cookie to keep you signed in, and your browser's local storage to keep your profile, saved partners, text-size setting and daily notes on your own device. We don't use advertising or tracking cookies.
Who we share it with
We share information only with the companies that help us run the service, and only what they need:
- Google: sign-in.
- Render: website hosting and our database.
- Stripe: payments and practitioner payouts.
- ElevenLabs: the voice Companion and spoken readings.
- HeyGen (LiveAvatar): the talking avatar.
- Resend: sending account and booking emails.
- The practitioner you book: the details of that booking.
We may also disclose information if the law requires it, to protect someone's safety, or as part of a sale or merger of the business, in which case this policy would continue to apply to your information.
Google user data
Our use of information received from Google APIs follows the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements. We use your Google name, email and picture only to create and identify your account. We don't transfer it to others except as needed to run the service, and never use it for advertising.
How long we keep it
We keep your account information for as long as your account is open. If you ask us to delete your account, we delete your profile and personal details, except records we must keep for legal, tax or accounting reasons (such as payment records), which we keep only as long as required.
Your choices and rights
- You can use the readings without signing in; your details then stay only in your browser.
- You can clear your browser's storage at any time to remove locally saved details.
- You can ask us for a copy of your information, to correct it, or to delete your account, by emailing support@themayacode.com.
- You can remove our access to your Google account at any time from your Google Account's security settings.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under local law, and we'll honor them.
Security
We use encrypted connections (HTTPS), keep our database access restricted, and limit staff access to what each role needs. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information and will tell you if a breach affects you.
Children
Crack the Code is for adults aged 18 and over. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we'll delete it.
Changes to this policy
If we make meaningful changes, we'll update the date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, let you know by email or on the site.
